Last night, there’s nothing wrong with my Facebook videos until suddenly this morning when I try to view the videos I am trying to upload last night I cannot view it anymore, even the old ones. And my AVG anti-virus is detecting a threat and it seems that I am not the only experiencing it inside FB. I clicked on the play icon, the little play window enlarged as if it was about to play but then AVG popped up saying Threat Detected! Threat Name: Trojan Horse Exploit_c.FWR was located in the file.

It seems that only AVG Anti-virus is the only one who can detect or affected. Below is a temporary fix for us to enjoy and watch our FB videos. It worked fine and nothing crazy has happened to my computer. Now its just a matter for AVG to come up with a fix…

Temporary Fix:

• In AVG click – Tools / Advanced Settings / Online Shield / Web Protection
• Below where it says: Exclude Host/IP/Domain
• Paste this: static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/z4OG5/hash/7qkbs3nb.swf
• Click Apply, enjoy your videos……..

This is a temporary work around for the issue….

In my previous post long time ago about how to download videos or grab videos from the internet or youtube, I have there 23 ways how to’s with some links of what software available to use.

I think it’s time for me to update and share what I am using right now in my notebook to grab flash videos.

What is flash videos?

Most of the videos right now that are being viewed from the internet are called VOD or video on demand. Also if you can recognize it’s extension file is .flv and this is what the famous youtube is using in its server to deliver videos online. Well, as what the definition says it is a file format used to deliver video over the Internet using Adobe Flash Player (initially produced by Macromedia) versions 6–10 and it’s obvious on the file extension. I’ll cut some specific discussion about macromedia flash, lets move on the purpose of this topic.

All though this is a little bit more techie procedure, I’ll make it easier for everyone to understand.

Things needed and what should be installed:

1. First, I am a Firefox user  so if  you’re still an IE user switch to Firefox believe me its much better. After you have Firefox installed open, then click Tools >> Add-ons then search for  Net Video Hunter (you must be online) and install. It will you ask you to restart Firefox do so. NetVideoHunter will detect all the flash videos available for download.

2. Install Allok Mpe4 Converter to convert all your flash video files in to several formats for you to be able to play it on your dvd players or media players.
   

By the way, flash video files can be played also using VLC media player.

Technically, codec is another term for “compression and decompression”. It also stands for “code and decode”. So all of these terms means the same thing: it is a computer program that both shrinks large music and movie files that turns them playable on your computers. This codec is very vital and important for your media player to play your downloaded music.“Why do we need codecs?”

- Because video and music files are large, they become difficult to transfer across the Internet quickly. To help speed up downloads, mathematical “codecs” were built to encode (“shrink”) a signal for transmission and then decode it for viewing or editing. Without codecs, downloads would take three to five times longer than they do now.

“Is there only one codec I need?”

- Sadly, there are hundreds of codecs being used on the Internet, and you will need combinations that specifically play your files. There are codecs for audio and video compression, for streaming media over the Internet, videoconferencing, playing mp3′s, speech, or screen capture. To make matters more confusing, some people who share their files on the Net choose to use very obscure codecs to shrink their files. This makes it very frustrating for users who download these files, but do not know which codecs to get to play these files. If you are a regular downloader, you will probably need ten to twelve codecs to play your music and movies.

“What are the common codecs people use?”

- Some codec examples are MP3, WMA, RealVideo, RealAudio, DivX and XviD. There are many other more obscure codecs.

“Isn’t ‘.AVI’ a codec already?”

- AVI is not in itself a codec; it is a common “container format” that many different codecs can use. As there are hundreds of codecs out there are compatible with AVI content, it can get very confusing which codec(s) you will need to play your video files.

“How do I know which codec to download and install?”

Your Windows Media Player will often try to communicate to you the 4-character code of the specific codec it needs. Note this code, then visit this website http://www.fourcc.org/fcccodec.htm to obtain the missing codec. For a small FAQ section, follow the link on the left called “Sample Code”.

“What are the codecs I should download and install?”

- There is no single best answer to this question. There are so many codec choices. The easiest option is to download “codec packs”. Codec packs are collections of codecs gathered in single large files. There is much debate over whether it is necessary to get a large group of codec files, but it certainly is the easiest and least-frustrating option for new downloaders.
