RSS Tool Guide

RSS is an abbreviation that has evolved into the following, depending on their versions:

  • RDF Site Summary (also known as RSS 0.9; the first version of RSS)
  • Rich Site Summary (also known as RSS 0.91; a prototype)
  • Really Simple Syndication (also known as RSS 2.0)

Today, RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’, and it has the following 7 existing formats or versions:

    0.90, 0.91, 0.92, 0.93, 0.94, 1.0, 2.0

Make web pages load lightning fast - a tweak for Firefox users. Most browsers are configured for dial-up. Tweak the settings to boost surfing speeds and minimize page load times.Firefox users:
1. Type about:config from the address bar and press enter.
2. Type under Filter bar: network and press enter.
3. Search for network.http.pipelining, double click on it to set it to true.
4. Double click network.http.pipelining.maxrequests, double click on it and set value from 4 to a higher value of 10-20.
5. Enjoy browsing!

How to speed up your PC

This article follows up my previous article titled “How to clean up your PC.” This guide is geared toward optimizing your PC to run as smoothly and quickly as possible.

- Run MSConfig

If you read the “clean up” article, you have already done this. Click Start->Run, and type in msconfig, then click OK. Click on the Startup tab. You can see a list of all the programs that run on when Windows boots up. Remove any programs that are unnecessary. Programs running in the background that you are not using just eat up valuable memory and CPU time. Click OK when you are finished to save your settings. (more…)
